HEALTH AND WELLNESS AT CAMP PONTIAC

As camp owners and physicians, our priority is to maintain the health and safety of our entire camp community to the greatest extent possible. Our highly qualified medical staff is uniquely equipped to recognize, diagnose, and treat medical issues that arise as expeditiously and effectively as possible. This enables your child to enjoy what they love most: their friends, counselors, and activities. “Camp medicine” differs from “real world medicine.” Living in a communal environment creates easier spread of infections and a short window to treat them, which is our expertise.

When campers are far from home, mental health and wellness is just as important as physical wellness. Before camp begins, we speak with the families of our campers to make sure we understand how each camper is doing at home and at school. This valuable information helps our team of physicians, nurses, and counselors create a safe environment for all campers to feel comfortable in.

FOOD AND NUTRITION AT CAMP PONTIAC

It is so important to offer active campers a well-balanced, nutritious, and healthy diet that appeals to their tastes. Our fully nut-free and seed-free culinary services are managed by a highly experienced and well-respected food and beverage company. They ensure that our dining hall and kitchen adhere to strict professional guidelines in food handling, preparation, and service. Partnering with our full-time in-house nutritionist and along with a designated gluten-free dietary specialist and camp moms, they ensure that all campers have plenty of options. We accommodate the entire camp together at the same time, serving family-style with vegetarian and gluten-free alternatives.

SPECIAL DIETARY NEEDS

With the ever-changing world of food allergens and sensitivities, we accommodate the most discriminating eaters. We are proud to have been named by the prestigious Town & Country Magazine as the number one camp in America to deal with medical necessities, dietary restrictions, food allergies, and other medical issues. Camp Pontiac was a pioneer in being a nut-free and seed-free environment.
