Meet Our Director: Eric Erlandsen
Camp Pontiac’s pickleball program is led by Tennis Director Eric Erlandsen, a USPTA- and PTR-certified coach who competes in major tournaments across the country. Eric recently qualified for both the World Pickleball Tour (WPT) and USAPA-UTR Nationals, bringing elite-level experience and energy to our courts.
He runs daily clinics, match simulations, and strategy sessions—creating a pickleball camp experience that’s both high-level and totally beginner-friendly.

Is Camp Pontiac considered a pickleball camp?
Yes! While we’re a full-service sleepaway camp, our pickleball program is robust enough to compete with dedicated pickleball camps. It includes instruction, clinics, and competitive play.
Are there pickleball clinics for beginners?
Absolutely. Campers receive instruction based on skill level. Beginners learn the fundamentals step by step, while more advanced players work on strategy and technique.
Who runs the program?
Our Tennis & Pickleball Director Eric Erlandsen, a nationally ranked player and certified instructor, oversees all training and play.
Can campers play casually or do they have to join tournaments?
Campers can choose. We offer casual play, leagues, and tournaments—so kids can participate however they’re most comfortable.
Is gear provided?
Yes. We supply all paddles, balls, and safety equipment. Campers can also bring their own gear if preferred.

- Overnight Trips: immersive camps away from site;
- Teen Trips: more independent, adventurous excursions for older campers
- Waterfront Program – encourages aquatic confidence and fun with a range of water sports and shoreline play. All campers swim and enjoy lakefront fun including trampolines, slides, and inflatables. Selective instruction begins in upper grades in boating, sailing, fishing, and other water sports.
