Horseback Riding at Camp Pontiac
Camp Pontiac’s horseback riding summer camp program caters to all skill levels. We provide a controlled environment for campers to learn basic and advanced riding techniques. Beginners can start with the points of the horse, mounting properly, and using the reins to steer their horse during walks or slow trots in our riding ring. More advanced riders can practice their diagonals, lead changes, and have a bit more independence with free riding here at our sleep away camp.
Camp Pontiac brings animal husbandry into our horseback riding East Coast camp program by teaching campers how to properly groom and care for our horses. Brushing, washing, combing, and understanding horse anatomy is crucial to any equestrian who wishes to form a special bond with these amazing creatures.
