Camp Activities & Programs

Pontiac is a unique “co-ed hybrid” sleepaway summer camp where we run the boys’ and girls’ programs separately on their respective campuses but also have plenty of special events and evening activities where campers come together for shared experiences. In this setting, siblings see one another multiple times a day. We are proud to provide a healthy co-ed social setting for our campers to provide natural environment for our campers’ growth.

At Pontiac, campers enjoy their hobbies, get involved in various sports, and explore new interests with top instructional guidance along the way. We offer a wide variety of activities including:

    • Athletics
    • Fine Arts & Culinary Arts
    • STEM
    • Special Events
    • Out-of-camp trips
    • Outdoor Adventure
    • Waterfront fun!

Our in-camp and intercamp games keep our campers busy and allow for some friendly matchups during which teamwork, sportmanship and fun are focal points. Campers also can participate if they wish in more competitive tournament play for sports, swim meets, outdoor adventure climbing, and even chess! At no extra cost, we also offer optional private lessons in numerous activities during rest hour and general swim. We endeavor to introduce our younger campers to a whole variety of activities; in this way, we help them discover their interests and passions that perhaps they never even knew existed. And the Pontiac program grows with our campers! As campers move into Middle Camp and Upper Camp, their adventures evolve with them to allow for more personalized programming and advanced training.

Camp Pontiac offers a diverse daily camper program packed with excitement. Our campers get time for athletics in our intramural leagues & tournaments, play age-appropriate games, and pursue their hobbies like woodworking, Legos or martial arts. A typical day at Camp Pontiac might include:

PERIODS (50 MINUTES EACH) INCLUDED IN DAILY SCHEDULE

Activity Instruction: Detailed instruction in a specific sport or hobby activity.
Selective:
Campers select one period each day of game play in team sports, individual sports or hobbies.
Clinic: Campers select one period of the day for six consecutive days to receive instruction in an activity of his or her choice, similar to a mini-camp.
Rest Hour: Self-explanatory! We also offer private/semi-private lessons in many activities during rest hour at no additional cost.
Leagues: Game play 2-3 times per week in various team sports and hobby games such as basketball, kickball, wiffleball, etc.
Waterfront: Swim Instruction / boating for lower camp.
Hobbies: Instruction in activities like rocketry, woodshop, cooking, photography, arts and crafts, Legos & model-making, martial arts, golf, and more! Campers enjoy the hobby period with approximately 10 other campers in their age group.
Academy: Campers entering fifth grade and older have the option to choose a double Clinic period in tennis, basketball, soccer or gymnastics for more nuanced instruction.
General Swim: Relaxed fun at the pool, lakefront or Water Park! (Older campers can substitute this with another selective or enjoy some downtime late in the afternoon.)
Sports Plus Programs: Optional private or semi-private lessons (included as part of tuition) instead of General Swim.
