Mind-Body-Movement at Camp Pontiac
Enjoy yoga, martial arts, and customized training programs while at Camp Pontiac! Dr. Aracelly Latino-Feliz, doctor of physical therapy and performance specialist, leads our health and wellness program while helping campers improve their body and mind. We encourage our campers to find what makes them happy and, more importantly, what activities make them feel great while enjoying fitness at sleepaway camp! Camp Pontiac is proud to have a summer camp fitness program that includes so much more than individual and team sports.
First implemented in summer 2022, Camp Pontiac's "Move and Think Like a Pro" quickly became a camper program favorite. With her 15+ year background in sports medicine and over 20 years in the fitness/sports performance industry, Ara introduces campers to the four pillars of optimizing human performance: mindset, nutrition, recovery, & movement.
Campers engage in various clinics to gain a deeper understanding of their biomechanics, strength, balance, mobility, flexibility, speed, power, and mind. Having worked with collegiate and professional athletes, Ara teaches campers how to connect movement and mindset to become better and stronger participants in their activity of choice. Mixed with mindfulness and breathing techniques, Ara's mediation series likewise is a hit. Campers learn meditation techniques to help calm and soothe their nervous system, aiding in more efficient recovery and emotional resilience.
The program's ultimate goal is to equip our campers with tools they can use no matter the sport or activity in which they participate and begin developing a healthy relationship with their body and mind.
